The tenugui is a traditional object that still perdures today in Japan: worn as a fashion accesory, included in the bathing kit at the onsen or equipment in sports like kendo, the tenugui is part of everyday life. 

To create this tenugui we have worked with Japanese artisans who use the chusen method to print on Oka cotton. This manual technique allows the print on both sides to be of equal quality. The Oka cotton is woven in small looms so the tenugui has vertical selvedges while the top and bottom edges remain unfinished.
